I see my physician on a regular basis. I like to say I am an active participant in my health care.

In general, less men choose to go to the doctor because they feel that they are strong enough to deal with their health problems on their own. But the true is they feel embarrassed about needing things more than women. Take the stereotype of the man who is too proud to ask for directions or admit he is lost when he is, for example. There is this sort of attitude that coats most men in society to some degree (some more so than others), which is where their lesser interest in health care may come from.

I'm tired of seeing my friends complain that they don't get the kind of health care they need. They are right saying women get more specific and targeted health care and attention. But the fact is if men won't stop blaming women for that, then they won't go to physicians, won't become involved in their health, won't organize and lobby for funding for areas that affect them and, in general, they won't be responsible for their own health.

They must learn to act same way women groups have been doing for the past several decades to get the money for the right type of health care they need. They need women as friends and support and if they can get women to nag them into coming to see physicians before problems occur, they may be able to get greater help from them.
